An Ithaca, Michigan, school superintendent notes that schools only get about $7,000 per student per year but prisons get about $30-$40,000 per year per prisoner so he asks that his school be declared a prison so that his kids could get more support for their education.

CNN reports that at least 27% of all mortgages are "under water," and the number grew in the last quarter of 2010 as home prices declined by 2.6% nationwide. Obviously, to get that average nationwide, some areas are up and some areas are down by a lot more than 2.6%.
